Three Sports. One Incredible Weekend!

What an incredible weekend for the Nutmeg State Games! Athletes from across Connecticut came together to compete in Track & Field, Figure Skating, and Softball, showcasing outstanding talent, determination, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to every athlete, coach, official, volunteer, and family who helped make the weekend a tremendous success!

Track and Field:

The Nutmeg State Games Track & Field Meet returned to Middletown High School with a record-breaking 780+ athletes, ranging in age from 4 to 91 years old. Competitors took part in 18 track events and 14 field events, resulting in 300 gold medalists and 671 athletes qualifying for the 2027 State Games of America.

Meet Highlights:

  • Athlete of the Year Parker Kennedy returned to capture gold in the triple jump (11.63m) and silver in the long jump (6.14m).
  • Our youngest competitors, Hayden Hunt and Wilder Fields, both just 4 years old, took on the 100m and 200m races with incredible enthusiasm.
  • At 91 years old, Robert Labb proved age is just a number by winning his division in the men’s long jump.
  • The fastest 100m performances of the day came from Rysaiah Saunders (11.09) on the men’s side and Cynthia Singleton (12.21) on the women’s side.
  • High School All-American Dylan Vazquez cleared 4.65m in the pole vault, setting a new meet record.
  • Devin Glasson earned victories in both the shot put and discus after another successful season with Canton High School.

Figure Skating:

The Nutmeg State Games Figure Skating competition welcomed 149 skaters who combined for 207 performances across 92 events throughout the day. The age range of the skaters ranged from 3 to 75! The wide age range of competitors is exactly what the Nutmeg State Games is all about: providing athletes of all ages and abilities the opportunity to compete and challenge themselves.

The event featured one of the most diverse competition schedules in the state, with skaters competing in:

Snowplow Sam, Basic Skills, Aspire, Excel, Championship, Adult, Showcase, Compulsory Moves, Jump Challenge, Spin Challenge.

From first-time competitors to championship-level athletes, the day showcased incredible skill, dedication, and passion for the sport. Thank you to all of the skaters, coaches, officials, volunteers, and families for making the event such a success.

Softball 12u and 14u:

Softball action continued this weekend with our 12U and 14U divisions.

The 12U division featured seven teams battling throughout the weekend.

14U Softball Winners

The 14U division featured an exciting tournament with 10 competitive teams battling throughout the weekend for a spot on the podium. After a weekend of great competition, the medalists emerged in an exciting championship finish.
