Weekend Recap: Three Exciting Nutmeg State Games Events Completed!

The 2026 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games were back in action this past weekend, with Fast-Pitch Softball, competitive NSG Tennis, a Judo tournament, and Field Hockey, all taking place across Connecticut.

🎾 Nutmeg State Games Tennis Tournament

July 17–19 | Pat Kidney Sports Complex, Middletown

Tennis players of all ages and skill levels took the courts for an exciting weekend of singles and doubles competition. The tournament featured junior and adult divisions, including singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and family doubles, all played in a round-robin format. With divisions ranging from 10 & Under through adult NTRP levels, it was a weekend full of competitive matches and great sportsmanship.

🥋 Nutmeg State Games Judo Tournament

Beman Middle School | Saturday, July 18

Judo athletes from beginners to experienced competitors battled it out in a full day of competition sanctioned by USA Judo. The tournament featured junior, senior, veteran, kata, and newaza divisions using a double-elimination format.

🥎 Fast Pitch Softball Tournament (16U & 18U)

July 17–19 | Hubbard Park, Wilbert Snow Elementary School & Crystal Lake Park

The 16U and 18U divisions took the field for an action-packed weekend of fast pitch softball. Teams competed in a 3-game pool play format before advancing to a single-elimination championship bracket, with the top 8 teams advancing.

The 2026 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games 16U Softball Tournament featured 11 teams competing in pool play, providing a full day of competitive softball. Several teams finished pool play undefeated, setting up exciting matchups throughout the tournament. Teams from Connecticut and neighboring states showcased strong competition, with close games and impressive performances across the division

Nutmeg State Games Field Hockey

The 2026 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games 18 & Over Field Hockey Tournament brought together six teams for a full day of competitive play in Middletown. After round-robin competition and medal rounds, the Ice Angels captured the gold medal with a 2-1 victory over Westconn 1, while Lobstah Slappah earned bronze with a 3-0 win over Westconn 2.

The tournament ran smoothly throughout the day, with competitive matches, great sportsmanship, and a fun atmosphere. Congratulations to all of the athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers who helped make the event another successful year for the ShopRite Nutmeg State Games.
