The ShopRite Nutmeg State Games continued another exciting weekend of competition as athletes from across the region competed in Hockey, Fencing, Flag Football, and Baseball. From championship games to outstanding individual performances, the weekend showcased the competitive spirit and sportsmanship that make the Games one of Connecticut’s premier multi-sport events.
🏒 Hockey
The hockey tournament featured 16 teams competing across three divisions: 10U, 12U, and Mites (8u). Teams battled throughout the weekend, culminating in exciting championship games.
In the 10U Division, the Stingers captured the gold medal after finishing the tournament undefeated at 5-0 with an impressive +61 goal differential. The Springfield Jr. Thunderbirds earned silver, while the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack secured bronze with a dramatic game-winning goal in the final minute.
The 12U Division featured one of the weekend’s best matchups as two undefeated teams met in the championship. CT United defeated the CT FireAnts 2-1 to win gold, with Spencer Wang scoring the game-winning goal in the third period. CT United’s Brayden Bilodeau had an outstanding tournament, recording 15 points and two hat tricks in his first two games.
The Mites Division saw the Yetis earn the gold medal, followed by the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack with silver and the Northern CT Lights taking bronze. The all-girls Northern CT Lights had an impressive tournament, finishing 2-1 against boys teams on their way to a medal finish.
🏈 Flag Football
Flag football once again brought great competition throughout the weekend, with teams competing across multiple coed and girls divisions.

⚔️ Fencing
The 2026 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games Fencing Tournament was held at Candlewood Fencing Center and welcomed approximately 150 fencers for a full day of competition on Saturday. Athletes from across the region competed in foil, saber, and epee events, making for another exciting year of fencing at the Games.
The tournament ran very smoothly, and overall the event was a great success. Final results are not yet available on AskFRED, but we look forward to sharing the medalists and results once they have been posted. Congratulations to all of the athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers who helped make this year’s tournament a success!
⚾ Baseball
The 2026 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games Baseball Tournament featured exciting competition in both the 13U and 15U divisions, with teams battling through pool play before advancing to championship Sunday.
In the 13U Division, NXT Baseball captured the gold medal with a 10-1 victory over the Monarchs in the championship game. The Monarchs finished with the silver medal after an undefeated run through pool play, while Mission Baseball Navy earned bronze with a 12-2 win over FC United 13U.
The 15U Division also showcased strong competition throughout the weekend. Fairfield Babe Ruth 15U claimed the gold medal with a 16-6 win over the Crusaders in the championship game after going undefeated in pool play. The Crusaders earned silver, and FC United 14U took home the bronze medal with a 12-2 victory over the Titans.
The tournament ran all weekend smoothly, with teams from across the region competing in a fun and competitive environment. Congratulations to all of the athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers who helped make another successful ShopRite Nutmeg State Games Baseball Tournament.
