Due to COVID-19 restrictions the CT sports Management Group, Inc. will be unable to offer the Nutmeg High School Weight Lifting Competition in 2022.
The ShopRite Nutmeg State Games will hold the 7th Annual High School Football Weight Lifting Competition presented by the Connecticut National Guard, at New Britain High School in 2023. The event will draw 26 of the top high school football teams from all across the state.
The event is open to football players currently in grades 9-11 and each team assigned three participants to compete in three events (squat, bench press, power clean) across five weight classes. Cheshire High School repeated as the Nutmeg State Games Weight lifting Competition champions talking home the overall team title, while competitors from multiple weight classes made impressive lifts throughout the event.
